Chartered on 8th February 1963, the Rotary Club of Altona Inc has been serving the community for over 55 years.
Networking with numerous local business people, our Members dedicate their time and passion to assist in worthwhile community projects on a local, national and international level.

WHO WE ARE
Home of the 9800 District Governor 2025 - 2026

Peter has been a Rotarian for 20 years being inducted in Rotary Club of Altona in May 2003.
He has demonstrated knowledge of volunteering, governance, financial, project management and sustainable development. Peter has a long career in retail management and is currently the Precinct Manager for Queen Victoria Markets.
He has strong interests in sporting and community not-for-profits, events and festivals, and currently holds leadership positions at Altona Sports Centre Limited and Altona Beach Film Festival and is a past President of Altona Bay Basketball Association.
In Rotary, Peter can be found both onstage, behind the scenes and everywhere in between, utilising his considerable professional and Rotary expertise. He has held the roles of club President and Assistant Governor several times including as AG Chirnside this year, supported no less than 12 District Conferences, has served on various Group Study Exchange and Group Vocational Exchange committees and is currently on 2022 on the District Foundation and Youth Exchange Committees.

Youth Projects
• Latitudes - Establishing starter home kits (Food, cleaning and daily consumable products) for disadvantaged youth/young and single parents in transition.
• Spirit West - Public Speaking, Musical and Theatrical support for youth 16-19 years.
• Altona College Breakfast
Partnering with Bendigo Bank. Free breakfast, every school day, for all students.

• Beach accessible chairs Altona Surf Lifesaving
• Summer Surf Lifesaver wages
• Truganina Explosives Reserve tree planting
• Life After Stroke - LAS - Support to develop a Newport Stroke Support Centre
• Wellness Centre in the WEST - RoCan initiative of Yvonne Moon OAM to build a Centre of retreat and wellness in the WEST

National and International Projects
• Drought, Bush fire, Flood relief across Victoria
• End Trachoma by 2020 is a project led by the RC Melbourne. It unites Rotary clubs across Australia to work towards eliminating trachoma by preventing the spread of infection that causes this avoidable blindness.
• Ending polio — Partnering with the Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation, the World Health Organization,
and UNICEF to end polio, once and for all

Awards
Emergency Services of Hobsons Bay awards night. Held every November awarding those who have gone above and beyond in their line of work. Nominated by their peers.
Police, SES, Ambulance, Fire, Surf Lifesaving, CFA

Hobsons Bay Art Show
Showcasing local artists in an exhibition we have been holding since 1977.
